What you do to me…

A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they’ve got planes and trains and cars
I’d walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
and we’ll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Baby I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you’re to blame

When I say…

When I say I love you it may pass as though you’ve heard it a thousand times before. Busy day. Busy lives. But each time I say it you should know I think of thousand flashes of memories when we’ve laughed, kissed and held on to each other over the years. I may just be another “I love you”, but it will always mean more than you know!

Vedanta is the philosophy of non-dualism. There only exists the supreme divine power, Brahman. We are all Brahman, just as many torches can be lit by one torch. Everything is That. Liberation from the cycle of death/rebirth is attained through the experiencing of the state of Oneness. It is not enough to say I Am Brahman, much like you cannot experience sweetness from simply writing “sugar” on a piece of paper & licking it. One must experience this state, your true state. The illusory form of reality, Maya, appeals to the senses, making us think that we are the body, that peace, joy, love & bliss come from mundane worldly pleasures. However, Vedanta explains that true bliss can only be experienced through knowing your true self. Nothing eternal can come from temporary sense objects. That is the power of Maya. We seek happiness outside in sensory pleasure but that happiness is fleeting, since the object had a starting point, its ability to give happiness is temporary, it also has an end point. That realization soon leads to suffering and again we search for another sensory object to fill that void. Happiness and lasting bliss can only be obtained from that which is eternal, everlasting. All are on this journey, all will arrive sooner or later. Seek Truth & it will reveal itself to you.

Mark Knopfler

Thank you for letting me be “me” even when it’s the difficult thing to do.

Anniversery

We half-joke about winning the lottery all the time, but hold a secret wish for it to be true every time you buy a scratch off. We wish for so many things as life turns out to be challenge after challenge, but you have become the one constant that gets me through it all. You are my winning ticket! I’m so thankful that you took a chance on me 13 years ago! Beyond my views on religion and life, YOU are my faith in all things worth striving for. You keep me on track even when we can’t see the road and you help me get though so many self doubts so I can be worthy of your love. It may not be our best year and we may not be able to retire on the lotto yet, but as long as you’re with me I’ve got everything I need. Thank you, I love every day we have even if it isn’t apparent on the surface. Happy anniversary, baby!
